Holcombe Second at County Line

Austin Holcombe rolled into County Line Raceway (Elm City, N.C.) on Saturday night for the I-95 UMP Modified Series event. Austin qualified second to lock into the second-starting spot for the 25-lap feature.

He battled for the top spot throughout the finale before crossing the finish line in second behind Chris Arnold with Ryan Toole, Doug Penny, and Jonathan Kluge rounding out the Top-5 finishers.

On Sunday evening the team headed north to Potomac Speedway (Budd's Creek, Md.) for a Mid-Atlantic Modified Series event. Starting fifth in his heat race, Austin overcame deflating right-rear tire as well as a bent nose to finish second.

He drew the fifth-starting spot for the feature and raced his way into the second position before making hard contact with an infield tractor tire. The ensuing damage to the nose of Holcombe's entry ultimately forced him to retire early to a 15th-place finish.
