Justin Duty makes Knoxville Nationals finale, finishes 19th

Drawing 42 cars for the third annual One for the Road, Justin’s 10th-to-seventh run in his heat race relegated him into the B-Main for another shot at the $22,022-to-win A-Main. Needing to place second or better, Duty fell short with a ninth-place finish.

Back in action on Thursday, Duty joined the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa) as the 18th annual Knoxville Nationals kicked off with prelims leading up to Saturday’s finale. After taking part in his heat race, Justin was a scratch from his B-Main.

For another $7,000-to-win preliminary on Friday, Justin timed in 13th-fastest in his group before placing eighth in his heat. Coming one spot shy of a transfer position in his B-Main, Duty logged a fifth-place finish.

With passing points from prelims transferring him into the B-Main, Duty secured his spot into Sunday’s rain-delayed $50,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals A-Main with a fourth-place finish in his consolation event. Passing nine cars in the 50-lap affair, Justin crossed the line in 19th.
