His most recent voyage to the Winner’s Circle came last Monday night at Kokomo Speedway. Clanton earned $20,000 for his seventh win of the 2022 season.

“Tyler (Erb) had me up on the wheel late in the race there (at Kokomo Speedway). I made one little mistake there and got into the fence, but thankfully he wasn’t able to get past me, and we go the win,” Clanton said. “The rest of the week didn’t go as well as we would’ve liked, but that’s racing, and now we’re getting ready for another weekend of Outlaws action.

“A huge thanks goes out to Skyline Motorsports and everyone who helps keep this operation going up-and-down the highway every week.”

Monday saw Skyline Motorsports return to the road with Shane Clanton competing with the XR Super Series in the opening round of the two-day Kokomo Dirt Nationals at Kokomo (Ind.) Speedway.

In a field of 42 entries, Clanton qualified second-fastest in his group before placing first in his heat race. Starting the feature in fourth, Shane lost a spot on the start but started gaining momentum on the high side as he overtook Brandon Overton for the lead by the fifth circuit.

Repelling a charging Tyler Erb in the final five circuits of the 40-lapper, Clanton took his seventh win of the season and third career XRSS victory 0.521 seconds ahead of Erb with Jimmy Owens, Brandon Sheppard, and Jonathan Davenport completing the Top-5 finishers.

He pocketed $20,000 for his winning performance.

On Tuesday, Shane tagged the wall during his time trial session but rebounded in his heat race to finish third. Earning the 11th-starting position for the $40,000-to-win Kokomo Dirt Nationals finale, Clanton faded four positions in the 60-lap affair to place 15th.

Back in action on Friday, Clanton joined the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series for a doubleheader at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Ga.). Drawing 41 Late Models for the Stateline Showdown, Shane was forced to take a provisional into the preliminary feature after mechanical issues sidelined him from his heat race. Gaining nine spots in the 40-lapper, Clanton raced to a 13th-place finish.

The following night, Shane’s fourth-place finish in his heat race pinned him on the eighth row for the $20,000-to-win Stateline Showdown main event. Inching forward three spots, Clanton crossed the line 12th.
