Ryan Unzicker enjoys two win weekend, earns $10,000

Drawing 29 cars for the three-day event, Unzicker followed up the second-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a heat race win. Grabbing the lead late in the feature from Brian Shirley, Ryan repelled a charging Jason Feger to record his second straight victory and seventh of the season. He collected a $2,500 payday ahead of Feger, Shirley, Earl Pearson Jr., and Rusty Schlenk.
With Friday’s program falling to Mother Nature, Unzicker returned to action on Saturday at Peoria Speedway (Peoria, Ill.) for the Illinois State Championship. After coming in second to Brian Shirley in his heat race, Ryan outran Shirley in the 100-lap feature to capture his second win in as many nights and a $7,500 prize. His eighth win of the 2022 campaign came ahead of Shirley, Jason Feger, Rich Bell, and Taylor Scheffler.
