With 35 Late Models entered for the eighth round of the Castrol FloRacing Night in America, Freeman secured his spot into the $22,022-to-win A-Main with a fifth-to-third run in his heat. Starting in ninth, Payton was running in seventh late in the race when he suffered flat right-rear tire. He rebounded from the tail to salvage a 14th-place finish.
On Saturday night, Payton debuted behind the wheel of the Team 22 Inc. No. 22F Late Model for the Jim Dunn Memorial at Muskingum County Speedway (Zanesville, Ohio). With a fourth-place finish in his heat race pinning him on the seventh row for the feature, Freeman gained three spots in the 40-lap affair to finish 11th.
