Troutman battles bad luck at Portsmouth and County Line

With the massive 78-car field divided into four groups for time trials, Troutman laid down the second-fastest time in his group before placing first in his heat race.
Receiving the fifth-starting position for Friday’s $5,000-to-win A-Main via the redraw, Drake suffered a mechanical issue that dropped him from the 30-lapper.
On Saturday, Troutman trekked to County Line Raceway (Elm City, N.C.) to compete with the I-95 UMP Modified Series for the 14th annual Race For the Kids. With a heat victory elevating him into the dash, Drake raced to a second-place finish, locking him on the front row for the feature. With $5,000 on the line, Troutman was collected in a tangle with a lapped car that resulted in an early exit.
