In a massive field of 73 Crate Racin’ USA entries, Hedgecock missed a transfer spot by one car in his heat with a third-place performance, relegating him into a B-Main on Saturday afternoon for another shot at the finale.
Starting on the pole, Cory outran Mark Whitener to pick up the 20-lap consolation victory. Earning the 14th-starting position for the $27,000-to-win Powell Family Memorial, Hedgecock wheeled his way into the top-five by the fifth circuit and set his sights on early pacesetter Joseph Joiner. The pair exchanged the lead in the final 20 laps but Cory fell short at the line, marking him second on the rundown. Kyle Bronson, Michael Page, and Jeremy Steele completed the Top-5 finishers in the 67-lap affair.
