Trent Ivey captures World Short Track Championship at Charlotte

Trent Ivey visited The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) on Thursday afternoon to pilot the Shurling Motorsports No. G4 Late Model for the World Short Track Championship.

With the 42-car field divided into two groups for Thursday’s prelim, Ivey secured his spot into the feature with the sixth-fastest qualifying effort in his group. Rolling off 20th, Trent advanced forward 11 positions in the 20-lapper to finish ninth.

On Friday, Trent timed in sixth-fastest in his group before placing second in his heat, which locked him into Saturday’s World Short Track Championship finale.

Starting on the fourth row, Ivey powered ahead of race-long pacesetter Dillon Brown on lap 19 and kept Brown at bay over the final 10 circuits to capture his first win of the season and a $5,000 prize. He took the checkers ahead of Brown, Ricky Greene, Jeremy Steele, Jamison McBride.
