Pair of runner-up finishes in Turkey Classic at Cocopah
Friday night found Ricky Thornton Jr. in action at Cocopah Speedway (Somerton, Ariz.) aboard his Certified Inspection Service No. 20RT Modified.
With 29 IMCA Modifieds entered for the two-day event, Thornton held off Kollin Hibdon in his heat race to pick up the win. Chasing race-long pacesetter Tim Ward to the checkers in the preliminary feature, Ricky raced to a runner-up finish.
For the second round of the Turkey Classic on Saturday, Ricky’s eighth-to-third run in his heat race positioned him on the third row for the finale. Gaining three spots in the 30-lap affair, Thornton crossed the line in second. He followed Kollin Hibdon across the line with Jason Wolla, Austin Kuehl, and Tanner Black rounding out the Top-5.
