Colin Shipley visits St. Louis for Gateway Dirt Nationals
Debuting in the Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Mo.), Colin Shipley trekked south to compete in the sixth edition of the Gateway Dirt Nationals presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts.
With the 119-car field split into two groups over Thursday and Friday, Shipley ran into issues with his clutch before his time trial session that pinned him on the fourth row of his heat. Following a seventh-place finish in his heat, Colin showed significant speed in his consolation race by passing eight cars to finish sixth but missed a transfer spot into the $5,000-to-win prelim.
Starting his qualifier in seventh on Saturday, Colin blew a power steering hose early in the 12-lapper that led to an early exit.
