Chad Finchum

Mechanical Woes Sideline Finchum at Kentucky

Sparta, Kentucky (07/08/17) Chad Finchum returned to the driver's seat of the Overstock Mercantile #40 MBM Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro over the weekend as he entered his second-career NASCAR XFINITY Series event.

The Alsco 300 was held at Kentucky Speedway (Sparta, Kentucky). Finchum enjoyed strong performances in practice and had high hopes for qualifying.

Unfortunately he would all manage the 38th fastest time and that's where he would start on the grid for the 200-lap affair at the 1.5-mile oval.

The race was originally slated for Friday evening, but Mother Nature had other ideas and pushed the program to Saturday at noon.

Chad would run strong early in the event as he continued to gain valuable seat time. It seemed like he would have a great car for late in the event, but engine troubles struck during the last segment. As a result he would slip to a 29th-place finish.

"The engine problems were disappointing but all-in-all we had a great outing and it was an awesome experience," Finchum said. "I can't thank Carl Long and the whole MBM Motorsports team for the hard work and efforts that they put into this car this weekend.

"Last but not least it really meant a lot to me to have so many friends, family and fans drive all the way from Knoxville to watch me race. We will be making an announcement very soon about more races!"
