Beard seventh in Wild West Shootout finale
Wednesday saw Kyle Beard return to the wheel of his Gary Beard Trucking No. 86 Late Model at Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) for the 17th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout.
Beard started the evening with strong fourth-place qualifying effort in his group before finishing runner-up in his heat race behind Morgan Bagley. Kyle started the $10,000 main event from the fourth row and wound up 14th after thirty laps.
On Friday, Beard grabbed a second place finish in his heat race before fading in the 30-lap main event to finish 22nd.
For another $10,000-to-win show on Saturday, Kyle finished one spot out of a transfer in his heat race, pushing him to a consolation race. Transferring through his B-Main, Beard made up eight spots in the feature to finish in the 12th spot.
For the Wild West Shootout finale on Sunday, Beard recorded a solid qualifying lap before finishing runner-up in his heat race behind Kyle Larson. With $25,000 on the line, Beard settled for a seventh-place finish in the 50-lapper.
