McCarter races into Night One of East Bay Winter Nationals
After a successful weekend at Volusia Speedway Park, the McCarter Brothers Racing team made the trip to East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.) for the Crate Racin' USA-sanctioned East Bay Winter Nationals.
With 63 CRUSA Late Models in the pit area, Mack McCarter followed up a fourth-place run in his heat race with a victory in the third B-Feature to transfer to Thursday's main event. With $2,500 on the line, McCarter made up nine spots from his 21st-starting position to finish 12th in the final rundown.
The following night, McCarter qualified 10th-quick in his group, but rallied in his heat race by making up six spots to finish fourth. With a runner-up spot in his B-Main transferring him to the feature, Mack gained seven positions from his 22nd-starting position to wind up 15th.
For Saturday's $5,000-to-win finale, Mack followed up a 3rd-fastest qualifying effort with a runner-up finish in his heat race which put him starting the 50-lap main event from the ninth spot. For the $5,000 payday, McCarter was an early retiree on lap 19.
