Pair of fourth-place finishes in Modified at East Bay Raceway Park
Kyle Hammer trekked south to East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.) on Wednesday afternoon to compete in the Modified ranks for the DIRTcar UMP Modified Winternationals
Following a fourth-place finish in his heat race, Hammer raced his way into the preliminary feature with a second-place finish in his B-Main. Starting in 21st, Kyle was an early retiree from the 25-lapper with battery issues.
For another round of prelims on Thursday, Kyle stopped the clock second-fastest in his group before placing first in his heat. Carrying a steady pace in the 25-lap affair, Hammer posted a fourth-place finish, which came behind Tyler Nicely, Drake Troutman, and Bryan Bernhardt with Lucas Lee coming in fifth.
On Friday, Hammer edged his way into the A-Main with a B-Main triumph after finishing third in his heat. Rolling off 17th, Kyle got caught behind a spinning car that left him nowhere to go, ending his night early.
To wrap up the DIRTcar UMP Modified Winternationals on Saturday, Kyle secured his spot into the $5,000-to-win finale with an impressive 11th-to-1st showing in his B-Main. Marching his way into the top-five in the feature, Hammer passed 14 more cars to register a fourth-place finish. He chased Lucas Lee, Rodney Wing, and Allen Weisser to the checkers with Drake Troutman completing the top-five finishers.
