Chase Allen Faces Adversity at Volusia
Chase Allen continued his Speedweeks 2023 ventures on Monday night with a trip to Florida's Volusia Speedway Park. A staggering 102 DIRTcar Modifieds entered the program. The field was divided into qualifying features with the respective line-ups being determined by hot lap qualifying.
Chase qualified 16th fastest in his group to earn the sixth-starting spot for the feature. He was running inside the Top 10 when another competitor spun in front of him, leaving Allen with nowhere to go. The ensuing contact left both Chase and his car banged up as his night came to an end in the 11th position.
Action continued on Tuesday night at the 1/2-mile oval. Despite having a banged up knee and a banged up racecar, Chase was able to return to the driver's seat. He once again qualifying 16th in his group before notching an 11th-place finish in the feature.
Wednesday proved to be a much better outing for the team. Earning the 14th-starting spot for his feature via qualifying, Chase advanced to a sixth-place finish in the 20-lap feature.
Allen continued his momentum on Thursday night with an eighth-to-second performance in his heat race, finishing behind Brian Shaw with Rob Pitcher, Mike Potosky, and T.J. DeHaven completing the Top-5 finishers.
On Friday evening the Gator Championship was held, and after waiting through unfavorable weather, Chase ultimately decided to scratch early from the remainder of the weekend.
