Runner-up in Ginger Owns Memorial at Cherokee Speedway
Carson Ferguson and the Paylor Motorsports team began their 2023 Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals title run at Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Ga.) on Friday evening.
For the series opener, Ferguson clicked off the second-fastest lap in his group before picking up a convincing heat race victory. Rolling off from the second row in the 53-lap main event, Carson recorded a strong fifth-place finish.
For Saturday's $10,053-to-win event at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.), Carson battled rough track condition but was able to land the third-place starting spot in the feature after grabbing another heat race victory. In the shortened 35-lap A-Main, Carson pulled off early and was scored ninth in the final rundown.
Making the haul to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Sunday for the Ginger Owens Memorial March Madness, Carson recorded the sixth-fastest lap in his group before earning a spot in the feature with a third-place finish in his heat. For the $20,000-to-win feature, Ferguson kept his nose clean in the attrition-filled race to finish runner-up behind his cousin Chris Ferguson. Caleb Gay, Dillon Brown, and Ryan Gustin completed the Top-5.
