Pair of fifth-place finishes in Clash on the Coast; eighth in points
Jeff Taylor trekked south on Monday afternoon to kick off his 2023 campaign at Northwest Florida Speedway (Baker, Fla.) for the Clash on the Coast presented by IMCA.TV.
With 50 Modified entries on the grounds, Taylor raced his way into the opener with a second-place showing in his B-Main after finishing fifth in his heat. Charging from the 12th row, Jeff worked his way into the top-10 by the 10th circuit but was forced pitside after issues with his left-rear tire. He salvaged a 14th-place finish from the tail.
On Tuesday, Jeff’s fourth-to-first run in his heat race positioned him fourth on the starting grid for the feature. With $1,000 on the line, Taylor posted a fifth-place finish, which came behind Joseph Joiner, Austen Becerra, Ethan Braaksma, and Jesse Enterkin.
Back in action on Friday, Taylor followed the Clash on the Coast for the final two nights at Southern Raceway (Milton, Fla.). After the wrong setup in his heat dropped him into a consolation, Jeff secured his spot into the show with a 12-lap B-Main win. Wheeling his way into the top-five,Taylor marched through the field 14 spots in the 25-lap affair to place fifth. He trailed Austin Becerra, Joseph Joiner, Brint Hartwick, and Dallon Murty to the checkers.
For Saturday’s finale, Jeff followed up an eighth-to-fifth showing in his heat with a third-to-first run in his B-Main. Charging forward early in the 25-lap finale, Taylor was challenging for the podium by the lap 11 but lost all his momentum when he suffered a broken ball joint. He was relegated to 12th in the rundown after running in fourth in the waning laps.
Jeff finished eighth in the Clash on the Coast point standings.
