Oberkramer finds speed with MLRA in the Hawkeye State
Broseley, Missouri’s Mason Oberkramer took part in two Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) events in Iowa on Thursday and Friday, competing against some of the Midwest’s most stout Dirt Late Model drivers.
On Thursday, Oberkramer’s Got Foam? No. 93 was one of 45 entries at Davenport Speedway. He opened the evening by turning in the ninth-quickest time in his qualifying group. After a sixth-place finish in his heat race, Oberkramer advanced to the 40-lap feature with a runner-up finish in the night’s second B-Main.
Oberkramer started 20th and came home 18th in the main event but failed to finish all the laps.
On Saturday, West Burlington, Iowa’s 34 Raceway attracted 41 entries for the Slocum 50. After a top-five qualifying effort in his group, Oberkramer started third and finished second in his heat race.
He started the 50-lap feature from the fifth spot, but finished 19th after contact with a competitor cut Oberkramer’s left-rear tire as he ran in fourth with 10 laps to go.
Weather washed away the Saturday portion of the weekend at 34 Raceway.
