Barnwell Entered In Saturday’s Rhododendron 100
After several years away from racing at Redwood Acres Raceway, Brandon Barnwell made a welcome return in the late model division in 2022. This year, the three-time sportsman track champion will look to improve on his fourth-place finish in the championship standings. The best way that can happen is with a victory in Saturday’s Rhododendron 100.
Barnwell showed no signs of rust last season as he was immediately competitive in last season’s inaugural running of the Rhododendron 100. The Fortuna native utilized the skills he displayed enroute to three championship efforts in the sportsman division in 2007, 2008 and 2012. Though he was winless in 2022, Barnwell is plenty capable of pulling off an upset Saturday night by the time the checkered flag falls.
Legends, bombers, mini stocks and roadrunners will join the late models for the Rhododendron 100 this Saturday April 29. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Automasters in Eureka, Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, McKinleyville Barbershop and JC Auto in Fortuna. Tickets can also be purchased on RacinTheAcres.com or at the gate on race day. Grandstands open at 4:00 while racing will begin at 5:30. The event will also be live streamed on RacinTheAcres.tv and Speedsport.tv.
