Garrett Alberson
Top-five finish in Castrol FloRacing Night in America event at Lincoln
Garrett Alberson returned to the driver’s seat of the Ken and Beth Roberts-owned No. 58 Black Diamond Chassis Late Model on Wednesday at Spoon River Speedway (Canton, IL) for the second running of the Castrol FloRacing Night in America Illinois Speedweek.
With the 48-car field divided into two groups for time trials, Garrett clocked in second-fastest in his group before placing first in his heat. Starting the opener in fourth, Alberson got turned around early in the 50-lap affair that brought a disappointing end to his night.
For another $23,023-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America event on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.), Alberson outran Ethan Dotson in his heat race to pick up the victory. Losing one spot in the 50-lap feature, Garrett recorded a fourth-place finish, which came behind Hudson O’Neal, Brandon Sheppard, and Jonathan Davenport with Tim McCreadie coming in fifth.
On Friday evening as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) invaded Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) to debut at the quarter-mile oval, Garrett followed up a 10th-to-5th showing in his heat with a consolation victory. Shortly after the first consolation race completed, a brief race shower postponed the remainder of the program to Monday, May 15th.
The following night at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.), Alberson raced his way into the $30,000-to-win FALS Spring Shootout with a runner-up showing in his B-Main after finishing fifth in his heat. Starting in 19th, Garrett was an early retiree from the 60-lapper on lap 36.
Locked into the 19th-starting position for Monday’s rain-delayed Farmer City 74, Garrett gained one spot to finish 18th.
Garrett is 13th in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
