Feger enjoys two-win MARS weekend, regains points lead

Lifting the lid on his Memorial Day weekend, Jason Feger made the short trip to Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) on Friday afternoon for a three-race swing with the MARS Late Model Championship.

With a runner-up finish in his heat race placing him on the fourth row for the opener, Feger gained one spot in the 40-lap affair to finish seventh.

For Saturday’s MARS Late Model Championship event at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.), Jason raced his way into the feature with a fourth-to-first run in his heat. Taking part in a lead-swapping duel late with Shannon Babb, Feger grabbed the lead for good on lap 34 and ran off with his fifth win of the season and 17th career MARS victory. He earned a $5,000 payday ahead of Babb, Tommy Sheppard Jr., Billy Moyer, and Ryan Unzicker.

On Sunday afternoon at Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.), Feger found victory lane for the second night in a row. Starting the feature in third, Jason passed Mike Harrison for the lead on the sixth circuit and led the remainder of the 40-lapper to claim his sixth win of the 2023 campaign and $5,000 prize. He finished 1.423 seconds ahead of Ryan Unzicker with Rich Bell, Tommy Sheppard Jr., and Payton Freeman completing the top-five finishers.

Jason regained the lead in the latest MARS point standings after his two-win weekend.
