Mitchell turns in 5th-place CCSDS finish at Arrowhead
Twenty-two COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Late Models filled the pit area of Colcord, Oklahoma’s Arrowhead Speedway on Friday, where Jon Mitchell’s W&W Timber No. 5 ride was among the frontrunners throughout the Fujita 50.
The 2012 CCSDS champion from Texarkana, Texas, finished second in his group qualifying and both started and finished first in his heat race. He started the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win A-Main from the second position and came home with a solid fifth-place result.
Mitchell, who is seventh in the CCSDS standings, trailed Ethan Dotson, Billy Moyer Jr., Brian Rickman and BJ Robinson across the line on the 1/3-mile, semi-banked clay oval to complete an evening that featured persistent showers.
Saturday’s slated $5,000-to-win race at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Oklahoma, fell to rain.
