Top-10 finish for Bryan in Appalachian Mountain Speedweek opener

Taking part in the revival of the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek, Bryan Bernheisel invaded Clinton County Speedway (Mill Hall, Pa.) on Friday afternoon as the tour returned to action at the third-mile oval.

Drawing 40 Super Late Models for the first round of eight in a span of 10 days, Bernheisel clocked in fourth-fastest in his group before picking up a heat race win. Chasing a $4,000 payday in the feature, Bryan dropped two spots in the 35-lap affair to register a 10th-place finish.

For the $5,000-to-win AMS event on Saturday at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.), Bryan broke a transmission in hot laps but rebounded in qualifying with the sixth-fastest lap in his group. Losing six spots in the 35-lap feature, Bernheisel crossed the line in 18th.

On Sunday afternoon at Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Md.), Bernheisel raced his way into the show via runner-up finish in his dash. He was closing in on a top-10 finish late in the feature when he was ran over by another competitor, relegating him to 19th in the finishing order.
