Robinson grabs eighth-place finish in Mountain Moonshine Classic prelim
Ross Robinson returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Friday afternoon at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) as the series invaded the Tennessee facility to compete on the newly redesigned 3/8-mile oval.
With officials eliminating heat races due to rough track conditions, Ross raced his way into his prelim with the seventh-fastest qualifying lap in his 22-car group. With $5,000 on the line, Robinson notched an eighth-place finish in his 30-lap preliminary.
On Saturday, Robinson squeezed into the $50,000-to-win Mountain Moonshine Classic finale with the final transfer spot in his consolation race. Starting in 22nd, Ross gained three positions in the 60-lap affair to finish 19th.
Ross is currently 15th in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
