Central Missouri Speedway Wins go to Keeter, Streeter, Ewing, Meyer, and Reiff!

(Warrensburg, Missouri) Sixty-eight race teams signed up for weekly racing along with the first appearance of the year of the Cash Money SuperDirt Series Late Models.

Among entries were 17 Late Models, 17 B-Mods, 17 B-Mods, 15 Super Stocks, 14 Midwest Mods, and 5 Pure Stocks. Ten heat races helped sort out the fields for the night’s five main events before the final checkered flag fell at the conclusion of the night.

Dustin Atkinson of Lebanon, Missouri, and multiple-time Cash Money Late Model Winner, Mitch Keeter of Webb City, Missouri, began the night’s 25-lap main event from row one. Keeter quickly moved his machine to the top of the field, leaving Atkinson and Dylan Bates to battle for second. A quick single-car caution slowed the field at lap 7 with Keeter leading over Atkinson, Dean Wille, and Dylan Bates. Just after the restart and through lap 15, Keeter built a nearly half straightaway lead over his closest pursuer and as he set a blistering pace over the final 10 circuits he continued to pull away from the rest of the field. A spirited battle to the finish took place with the rest of the top five. As Keeter once again captured the winning headlines, Atkinson fought hard for a strong second-place run ahead of Atkinson second, Bates third, Warrensburg’s Dean Wille fourth, and Dustin Mooneyham to complete the top five. Just one caution slowed the race, which was completed in 12 and-a-half minutes.

Sturgis Streeter of Topeka, Kansas, and Cole Moore of Kansas City, Missouri, were the front-row starters for the 20-lap main event for B-Mods. Streeter was quick to grab the lead at the drop of the green flag, as he left Moore, Jacob Ebert, and Mike Ryun to battle three-wide behind him. The fierce battle for second took on many forms as Ebert stayed consistent near the front, while Cody Brill and Steven Clancy stayed within range of the lead trio. Brill moved to fourth on lap eight but soon lost several spots as he got too high in turn two. Streeter continued to pace the field; Ebert continued his strong performance near the front as Brad Smith continued to move forward. A yellow flag flew by lap 13, setting up a flurry of stop and go restarts and changes in the rundown. Once the drivers eventually settled back into a race rhythm, Streeter again was in a class by himself out front, leaving Ebert to battle with Smith and Jeremy Lile. Brill’s race took a late race hit as he was involved in a caution with Streeter leading the field. Over the final few laps, Streeter went on to record his third CMS victory. The fantastic battle to second ended with Smith edging Ebert while Terry Schultz grabbed fourth late in the race just ahead of Jeremy Lile and Ethan Isaacs.

Aaron Poe was in search of another CMS win from his pole position alongside Blaine Ewing. However, it was Ewing who grabbed the early race lead over Poe. Nathan Vaughn moved to the top three by lap nine with Marc Carter also advancing forward. The lead cars soon began to encounter lapped cars by lap 11 as Poe began to take a low-side groove to challenge for the lead. Poe and Ewing had several on-track close calls through the races late stages as the drivers raced hard for the win. The field was slowed at lap 17 with the race for the win still up in the air between Ewing and Poe. Vaughn, Carter, and Nick Gibson were all trying to secure strong runs behind the leaders over the final three turns. Over the final few circuits, Ewing was able to park it for the win over Poe, Vaughn, Carter, Gibson, and Rodger Detherage.

Previous winner David Wood and Kenny Prince started the 20-lap main from row one with Prince taking the early lead. A flurry of activity reset the field early in the race with Prince out front, but that did not last long as Dustin Dennison and Dave Meyer moved forward at lap five. Meyer began pressuring for the lead on lap eight as yellow flew over the field just before halfway. At lap 10, Meyer led Dennison and Prince with Anthony Ferrara and Devin Wetzel solidly in the top five. The two drivers raced close through lap 15, but Dennison ran off the back stretch and lost the lead as the yellow flag flew. For the restart, Meyer led Prince and Anthony, who was having a strong run inside the top three. As the final laps clicked off, Prince challenged but, in the end, Dave Meyer picked up career win number 36 over Prince, Ferrara, Wetzel with his strongest CMS performance, and Pete Richardson in fifth.

POWRi Pure Stocks - 5 Entries

Spencer Reiff and Terry Moss started the 10-lap main event from row one with Reiff jumping out to an early race lead. Shortly after the initial green flag the 14 of Ricky Tanner and 75 of Brady Tanner retired from the race. From this point on Reiff went unchallenged for the remainder of the distance as he pulled away from a close battle for second between Mallory Stiffler and Terry Moss. Moss challenged repeatedly and made the pass for second late in the race off turn two. In the end, Reiff collected his 19th career feature win with Moss Second and Stiffler third.

Action continues Friday, June 30, with the first-ever appearance of the POWRi National and POWRi West Midgets, plus POWRi 305 Sprints, and POWRi Lightning Sprints, then the following night on Saturday, it’s the 23rd Annual Tom Wilson Memorial, featuring $3,000-to-Win B-Mods, plus $800-to-Win POWRi Pure Stocks. The night’s action also features POWRi Super Stocks and POWRi Midwest Mods competing for national POWRi points.
