Shane Clanton
Runner-up finish in Mason City Showdown with World of Outlaws
Continuing his trek out North, Shane Clanton followed the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series to Mason City Motor Speedway (Mason City, Iowa) on Tuesday evening for the Mason City Showdown.
Following the sixth-fastest lap his qualifying group, Clanton was victorious in his heat race and was placed on the third-row of the feature via the redraw. For the $10,000-to-win main event, Shane battled with the leaders but settled for a runner-up outing after being unable to catch race-winner Bobby Pierce.
With their original Wednesday date rained out, Shane traveled to Red River Valley Speedway (West Fargo, N.D.) on Thursday afternoon for the Titan Machinery Showdown. Following a ninth-place outing in his heat race, Clanton transferred to the feature by grabbing a transfer spot in his Last Chance Showdown. For the $10,000-to-win main event, Clanton kept his nose clean and quietly snuck through the field to land inside the Top-10 in seventh.
Friday's event at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, N.D.) saw Shane top the charts in his qualifying group before falling back in his heat race to finish third. Rolling off from the fifth-row in the $12,000 showdown, Clanton gained three positions to finish sixth.
Wrapping up the long racing weekend at I-94 EMR Speedway (Fergus Falls, Minn.), Shane started the 50-lap feature from the eighth-position and slowly faded to finish 15th.
Shane is currently 10th in World of Outlaws points.
