Tyler Clem second in Hell Tour's visit to Lake Cumberland

Tyler Clem returned to the driver’s seat of the Big Frog Motorsports No. 58 Late Model on Tuesday afternoon at Springfield Raceway (Springfield, Mo.) for the 11th round of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals.

Rebounding in the feature after suffering a flat tire on lap 22, Clem charged from the tail to finish 10th.

For Wednesday’s stop at Adams County Speedway (Quincy, Ill.), Tyler topped his time trial group in qualifying before placing first in his heat. With $5,000 on the line, Clem dropped three spots in the 40-lapper to register a sixth-place finish.

On Thursday at Benton Speedway (Benton, Mo.), Clem’s sixth-place finish in his heat pinned him on the ninth row for the main event. Wheeling his way into the top-10, Tyler passed 10 cars to cap off the night with a seventh-place run.

In a field of 21 Late Models on Friday at Paducah International Raceway (Paducah, Ky.), Tyler followed up a runner-up showing in his heat with a sixth-place finish in the 30-lap feature.

With Saturday’s stop at Clarksville Speedway (Clarksville, Tenn.) axed by Mother Nature, Clem concluded the third week of the Hell Tour on Monday at Lake Cumberland Speedway (Burnside, Ky.) for the rain-delayed event from Sunday. After claiming the fast time honors in qualifying, Tyler secured his spot into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with a heat victory. Grabbing the lead on the opening lap, Clem set the pace for the opening 34 circuits but was unable to contain a charging Ashton Winger. He chased Winger across the line when the checkers flew with Billy Moyer Jr., Greg Johnson, and Brendon Smith rounding out the top-five.

Tyler finished fourth in the week-three Hell Tour point standings.
