Earl Pearson Jr. scores Top-10 outing in Gopher 50 at Deer Creek Speedway
Earl Pearson Jr. and the Papich Racing team trekked North to join the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) for the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50.
With 38 Late Models checked in, EPJ earned a starting spot in the feature and recorded a 16th-place finish in the first $5,000-to-win prelim of the weekend.
With another shot on Friday, Pearson Jr. placed runner-up in his B-Main to transfer to the second night of prelim action. With another $5,000-to-win race on tap, Earl recorded a 18th-place finish.
For Saturday's $50,000-to-win finale, EPJ secured the final A-Main transfer spot via the weekend point standings accumulated through the previous two nights of action. Rolling off 16th in the 75-lap Gopher 50, Earl slowly moved his way forward and landed an eighth-place finish when the checkered flag waved.
