Cla Knight joins Southern Nationals Series for four-day race weekend
Joining the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals for the second week of competition, Cla Knight arrived at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.) on Thursday afternoon to compete in the Roscoe Smith Classic.
Among a stout 47-car field, Cla started on the pole of the third consolation race after narrowly missing an A-Main transfer position in qualifying. Needing a Top-3 finish in his B-Main, Knight rolled off from the pole but slipped back battling for a transfer spot to land a fifth-place finish.
Traveling to East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) on Friday, Knight had just wrapped up his qualifying lap when a heavy thunderstorm rolled into the area. Officials were forced to postpone the event to August 18th.
Heading back to Georgia on Saturday, Cla was seventh-quickest out 27 Late Models at Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Ga.) for the annual Rebel Yell event. Following a fourth-place outing in his heat race, Cla transferred to the $10,053-to-win main event where he would record a 15th-place run.
Sunday's Southern Nationals event at Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Ga.) was postponed due to heavy rain showers.
