Drake Troutman soars to $10,000 Hoker Trucking 50 at Davenport
Coming off a doubleheader weekend with the series, Drake Troutman returned with the MARS Championship Series on Tuesday evening at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) for the Hoker Trucking 50.
In a field of 24 cars, Troutman timed in second-fastest overall before placing first in his heat. Starting the feature in second, Drake charged into the lead on the drop of the green flag and led wire-to-wire in the 50-lapper to claim his 17th win of the season and a $10,000 payday. He turned back challenges from Garrett Alberson and Jeff Larson to secure his first victory with the midwestern series.
Pulling double duty on Friday in the Super Late Model and Modified ranks, Drake invaded Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for the 33rd running of the Prairie Dirt Classic. Despite getting off to a slow start in his Late Model with a 15th-place finish in his 20-lap preliminary, Troutman rebounded with a runner-up showing in his Modified prelim feature.
Slated to start deep in the field in his B-Main on Saturday, Drake scratched from his Late Model consolation race to focus on his Modified. Pulling the seven in the redraw for the $5,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic Modified finale, Troutman was an early retiree with nine circuits remaining
