Rain Forces Afton Cancellation, CRSA Turns Attention To First Trip To Woodhull In 5 Years

Press Release by Steven Ovens – August 12th, 2023 –

(SODUS, NY) – Racing action at Afton Motorsports Park for the A-Verdi Storage Containers CRSA Sprints powered by Super Gen Products has been cancelled by widespread rain across the state for Saturday August 12. Many other tracks across the state have fallen victim to Mother Nature on this night as well. No makeup has been scheduled with the next CRSA visit for Afton scheduled for October 6 for the series championship race.

Attention now turns to Terry and Nikki Brewer’s Woodhull Raceway on Saturday August 19, where the series has not raced since 2018. Since 2014, Jeff Trombley and Tyler Boniface have been victorious at “New York’s Toughest Bullring.” The series has only visited Woodhull five times since 2009.

The series’ most recent winner Dalton Herrick (Land of Legends Raceway) also hit a big milestone during that August 5 event. Herrick now takes sole possession of fifth place on the CRSA All-Time Top 5 list with 44. Herrick now trails only Josh Pieniazek (63), Scott Goodrich (53), Jeff Trombley (52) and his next target Jeremy Quick (51). Herrick is the only active driver currently on the Top 5 list as four-time champion Jeff Trombley and team owner Warren Alexson have scaled back in 2023.

It will be a wide-open field next weekend at Woodhull as a large majority of the touring regulars in 2023 were not in attendance for those races in 2017 and 2018. The tight, one-third-mile bullring will test the drivers and the crews to try and hit the right setup. Fans can stay tuned to CRSA social media channels for updates throughout the night as there is no video streaming.

Following Woodhull on the schedule will be a Friday night trip to Albany-Saratoga Speedway (8/25), Skyline Raceway Motorsports Park on Saturday September 9, Fonda Speedway on September 15, Penn Can Speedway September 16, Genesee Speedway on September 22 and the Series Championship at Afton Motorsports Park on October 6.

The A-Verdi Storage Containers CRSA Sprints are powered by Super Gen Products.
