Jon Mitchell

Runner-up finish for Mitchell at Hunt County Raceway

Jon Mitchell returned to his W&W Timber No. 5 Modified over the weekend for a pair of events across Texas and Louisiana.

On Friday, Mitchell visited the quarter-mile Hunt County Raceway (Greenville, Texas) for a $1,000-to-win program. He drove from fourth to second in his heat race and started third in the 20-lap main event.

Mitchell moved forward one spot in the feature to score a runner-up result, chasing Jack Sartain across the start-finish line. Third place went to Bo Day, with Jason Webb and Mitchell Clement finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 12-car field.

The No. 5 team then traveled to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) on Saturday for the third annual Billy Robinson Memorial. Mitchell was one of 20 United States Racing Association (USRA) Modified drivers in the pit area at the quarter-mile oval.

He finished second in his heat race, positioning him in the sixth starting spot for the 20-lap, $1,501-to-win USRA Modified A-Main. He was unable to complete all the laps and recorded an 18th-place result.
