Tom Berry Jr. drives to top-10 finishes at Hancock County and Boone

A pair of events in the Hawkeye State were on tap for Tom Berry Jr. and his Jahnke Heating and Air Conditioning No. 11x IMCA Modified on Friday and Saturday.

First up on Friday, Berry visited Hancock County Speedway (Britt, Iowa) for the conclusion of the Night of 1,000 Stars after rain postponed the program in mid-August. Berry started seventh in the 35-lap, $5,000-to-win main event and picked up one spot on the 4/10-mile oval to come home in sixth position. He did not participate in the IMCA Modified portion of the track’s regularly scheduled Season Championship Night.

On Saturday, Berry traveled to the famed Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) for the 1/3-mile oval’s Prelude Preview. Berry, the 2022 IMCA Super Nationals winner, was one of 35 Modified entrants. He drove from sixth to second in his heat race, and after the redraw, started sixth in the 20-lap main event.

In the feature, Berry moved into the second spot on the first lap and stayed there for the rest of the race, crossing under the checkered flag just 0.353 seconds behind winner Dallon Murty. Tim Ward rounded out the podium, while Riley Simmons finished fourth and Cory Sauerman was fifth.
