Runner-up finish in Labor Day Classic at Bedford Speedway
Competing in a pair of Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series (ULMS) events to kick off his Labor Day weekend, Matt Cosner rolled into Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pa.) on Friday night sporting a commemorative design on his Nelson Auto Sales No. 66c Late Model for the 35th annual Labor Day Classic.
In a field of 37 cars, Cosner followed up the fourth-fastest qualifying lap in his time trial group with a runner-up showing in his heat race. Rolling off third for the $12,055-to-win A-Main, Matt muscled forward one spot in the 55-lap affair to register a second-place finish. He trailed Mason Zeigler across the line with Coleby Frye coming in third.
With 34 Late Models entered on Saturday at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.) for the Butch Renninger Memorial, Matt outran Donald Lingo in his heat race to pick up the eight-lap victory. With the redraw pinning him on the fourth row for the feature, Cosner scored an eighth-place finish.
As a test session for the upcoming World 100, Cosner unloaded at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Sunday for the annual running of the Earl Baltes Classic. Following a fourth-place showing in his heat, Matt jumped up five spots in the 30-lap feature to finish 10th.
