Marlar fourth in Thursday's World 100 prelim at Eldora
Donning a brand new commemorative wrap in honor of the North American P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft, Mike Marlar unloaded his Delk Equipment Sales No. 157 Late Model at the famed Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday for a pair of prelims to kick off the three-day 53rd annual World 100.
Starting his $12,000-to-win preliminary feature in seventh via a heat race victory, Marlar muscled forward three spots in the 25-lapper to register a fourth-place finish. He trailed Hudson O’Neal, Jason Jameson, and Ricky Thornton Jr. across the line with Shannon Babb coming in fifth.
For another round of prelims on Friday, Mike followed up the 11th-fastest qualifying lap in his 51-car group with an eight-lap heat win. Losing one spot in his 25-lap prelim, Marlar rolled to a ninth-place outing.
On Saturday, Marlar secured his spot into the $56,000-to-win World 100 finale with a fifth-to-third run in his heat. Starting the 100-lap affair in 15th, Mike rallied to an 11th-place finish after pitting during a lap-49 caution.
