McDowell charges 27th-to-3rd in World 100 at Eldora
Shane McDowell Racing and Dale McDowell rolled into the famed Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday to kick off the 53rd running of the World 100 weekend with a pair of prelims on Thursday and Friday leading up to Saturday's main event.
With the massive 102-car field split in two, Dale squeezed into his preliminary feature with a fourth-place finish in his heat aboard his Team Zero Race Car No. 17m Late Model. Chasing a $12,000 payday, McDowell jumped up five spots to finish 13th.
Starting Friday’s $12,000-to-win prelim in ninth via a second-place run in his heat, Dale dropped to a 14th-place outing in the 25-lapper.
The weekend drew to a close on Saturday with McDowell qualifying for the $56,000-to-win World 100 in his B-Main after finishing two spots out in his heat. Lined up 27th for the main event, Dale advanced through the field 24 spots in the 100-lap affair to register a stellar third-place finish. He chased Hudson O’Neal and Jonathan Davenport to the checkers with Brian Shirley and Tanner English rounding out the top-five.
