Rodney Sanders posts pair of top-5 finishes in The Great Pumpkin Races
Rodney Sanders and his team started the Halloween season just a bit early when they traveled to Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin) over the weekend.
The first night of The Great Pumpkin Races at the 1/3-mile oval attracted 27 United States Racing Association (USRA) Modifieds on Friday, including Sanders’ Keith Hammett Trucking & Construction No. 20 ride. Sanders drove from eighth to second in his heat race and started on the pole for the night's 25-lap, $1,000-to-win A-Main. After leading much of the feature, he recorded a fourth-place finish behind Jake Timm, Jim Chisholm and Parker Hale. Brandon Davis took the fifth spot.
On Saturday, 24 USRA Modifieds were at the track for the $1,200-to-win finale. Sanders finished as runner-up in his heat, then rolled off second in the 25-lap main event. He led the first 10 circuits before coming home third behind Timm and Davis. Chisholm finished fourth, with Jacob Bleess rounding out the top five.
