Pair of podiums in Mike Duvall Memorial at Cherokee Speedway
Taking part in a doubleheader weekend with the Southern All Star Series, Chris Ferguson made the short trip to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Friday night for the fifth annual Mike Duvall Memorial.
With time trials setting the grid for Friday’s opener, Ferguson followed up the fifth-fastest qualifying effort with a fifth-to-second run in the 30-lap feature. He was up to second by lap 11 and nearly nosed ahead of leader Trent Ivey in the final corner but came up 0.166-seconds short at the line.
On Saturday, Chris’ third-fastest qualifying lap in his group placed him on the third row for the $12,000-to-win Mike Duvall Memorial finale. Muscling forward three spots in the 50-lap affair, Ferguson posted a third-place finish, which came behind Zack Mitchell and Ben Watkins with Trent Ivey and Benji Hicks rounding out the top-five.
