Mckay Wenger
Pair of top-five finishes in DIRTcar Fall Nationals at Lincoln Speedway
Making a surprise start aboard the Doug Curless-owned No. 99 Longhorn Chassis Super Late Model, McKay Wenger was one of 30 competitors entered at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.) on Friday for the DIRTcar Fall Nationals.
Showing speed from the second he unloaded, Wenger backed up the fastest qualifying lap in his time trial group with a heat race victory. Chasing a $2,000 payday in Friday’s opener, McKay recorded a fourth-place finish in the 25-lapper.
On Saturday, McKay claimed the overall fast time honors with a 14.162-second lap before placing first in his eight-lap heat. Starting on the pole $3,000-to-win DIRTcar Nationals finale, Wenger ran a consistent third in the 30-lap affair. He trailed Jason Feger and Steve Sheppard to the checkers with Chase Osterhoff and Jordan Bauer rounding out the top-five.
