Berry posts pair of USMTS top-10 finishes at Arrowhead
Tom Berry Jr. returned to the Summit United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) with a new Lethal Chassis race car for the inaugural ARMI Contractors All-American on Thursday through Saturday.
Berry was one of 55 USMTS competitors at the new Arrowhead Speedway (Colcord, Oklahoma) on Thursday’s opening night of the three-day show. He finished eighth in his heat race on the 1/3-mile oval and 14th in his B-Main, ending his evening before the 35-lap, $3,000-to-win feature.
Friday went much better for Berry as the field increased to 58 USMTS Modifieds. He won his heat and rolled off fifth to start the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win A-Main. He competed in the top five for much of the race before ultimately finishing in the sixth position.
With $20,023 on the line in Saturday’s finale, 55 USMTS competitors made their way to the Sooner State track. Berry finished fifth in his heat and fourth in his B-Main to start 22nd in the 50-lap main event. He steadily moved forward during the race to come home ninth and score his second top-10 finish in as many days.
