Dirt clod ends Marlar's Dirt Track World Championship run at Eldora
The 43rd running of the General Tire Dirt Track World Championship weekend presented by Automotive Racing Products brought Mike Marlar to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) over the weekend to compete in the series finale for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS).
With persistent rain forcing series' and track officials to condense the originally scheduled two-day show, Marlar qualified fifth-fastest in his time trial group before picking up a heat race victory on Sunday afternoon. Starting the $100,000-to-win Dirt Track World Championship in fourth, Mike soared of ahead of Jonathan Davenport on the seventh circuit to assume command of the lead. His run at the front was short-lived after a dirt clod took out a right-front shock canister, ending his night on lap 34.
