Gresham rolls through Sunshine Nationals; lands two podium finishes with 602 Late Model
On Friday afternoon, Mario Gresham kicked off the Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) with Crate Racin' USA after Thursday's event was lost due to weather.
With a stacked 69-car field on the premises, Gresham missed the setup in qualifying but stormed through the field during his preliminary feature to finish sixth. Transferring to Saturday's $10,000 feature through a B-Main, Mario made work of eight competitors to finish 16th after 30-laps.
In 602 competition over the weekend, Mario began with a fourth-place qualifying effort in his group before placing runner-up behind Chaz Haskins in the second preliminary feature. For Saturday's 602 finale, Gresham sat on the pole of the feature event and ran second for most of the race before falling to third late. He trailed Pierce McCarter and Bubba Roling while Chase Blackwell and Chaz Haskins filled out the Top-5.
