Willard opens 2024 slate at Golden Isles Speedway
After a back injury kept him from the cockpit during much of 2023, Brennon Willard jump started his new season over the weekend with Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competition at the Super Bowl of Racing.
On Thursday, Willard’s Willard Quarries No. 3 Super Late Model was one of 51 LOLMDS entries at the 4/10-mile Golden Isles Speedway (Waynesville, Georgia) as the Lucas series’ 2024 schedule got underway. Chasing a $10,000 payday, Willard finished seventh in his heat and 17th in his B-Main, ending his evening before the 40-lap main event.
The following night’s $12,000-to-win show fell to weather, meaning Willard next hit the track for the Saturday finale, paying $25,000 to the victor. Willard was among 49 LOLMDS competitors in the pit area for the evening. He tok the eighth spot in his heat race, followed by a 12th-place result in his B-Main. His event thus came to a close in advance of the 60-lap feature.
