Clay Harris races into first-career LOLMDS feature at Golden Isles

Joining the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on their opening weekend, Clay Harris unloaded his newly-wrapped No. 6 machine at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) on Thursday afternoon for the Super Bowl of Racing.

Drawing 51 Late Models to the track, Clay laid down the fifth-quickest lap in his group before locking into his first LOLMDS A-Main with a third-place finish. Completing all 40-laps of the feature, Harris brought it home 15th in his debut.

After losing Friday's event because of heavy rain showers, Harris returned to the seat on Saturday and once again clocked in fifth-fastest in his group before finishing runner-up in his heat. In the $25,000-to-win finale, Clay was running inside the Top-15 before blowing a tire on the final lap which relegated him to a 22nd-place outing.

Harris also competed in the 604 Late Model division where he picked up a fourth-place finish in Thursday's make-up feature and a ninth-place finish in Saturday's $2,500 main event.
