Third-place finish in Winter Nationals finale at Ocala Speedway
Back with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Tuesday, Brain Shirley headed south to the newly rebranded Ocala Speedway (Ocala, Fla.) for the two-day Winter Nationals.
Electing to use a provisional into the opener after retiring on fifth circuit of his B-Main, Shirley advanced forward 11 spots in the 40-lap affair to recover with a 13th-place finish.
For another $10,000-to-win program on Wednesday, Brian laid down the seventh-fastest time in his group before going fourth-to-second in his heat race. Starting on the third row for the feature, Shirley climbed two spots to register a third-place finish. He stood alongside race-winner Hudson O’Neal and Clay Harris atop the LOLMDS podium.
In a stacked field of 49 LOLMDS entries on Friday at All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Fla.), Shirley jumped up two spots in his heat to finish second, positioning himself 12th on the starting grid for the main event. With a $10,000 top prize up for grabs, Brian recorded a consistent 12th-place finish in the 40-lapper.
His weekend drew to an early close on Saturday with an eighth-place outing in his consolation race.
