Hughes competes in Winter Nationals at Ocala Speedway
On Tuesday afternoon, Spencer Hughes returned to the seat of his JCM Motorsports No. 19 machine at Ocala (Fla.) Speedway for the first night of the Winter Nationals with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
Clocking in sixth-quickest in his qualifying group, Hughes nabbed the final transfer spot in his heat race which earned him a starting position in the A-Main. For a $10,000 prize, Spencer recorded an 18th-place finish.
With the field elevated to 43 entries on Wednesday, Spencer went backwards in his heat race and B-Main which forced him to use a provisional for the second $10,000-to-win feature of the week where he recorded a 17th-place outing.
Switching gears to All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Fla.) on Friday evening, Hughes raced to a heat race victory after strong qualifying lap. Starting the 50-lap feature from the second-row, Spencer raced inside the Top-10 and slipped back to 10th when the checkered flag flew.
Looking to ride the momentum into Saturday's finale, Spencer grabbed the final transfer spot in his heat race and recorded a DNF in the $15,000-to-win feature.
