Delaware International Speedway Gearing up for 2024

Delmar, DE -

Delaware International Speedway is gearing up for the 2024 season. The Cathell family will be back at the helm this season when DIS opens on Saturday night, April 27. “We are excited to get back behind the wheel of our family's historic half mile oval.” states Mark Cathell, co-owner of SDM Promotions. This year means a lot to me as we will have three generations on the property on most of our race nights.

My Dad, Charlie Cathell, has agreed to assist us preparing the racing surface, my son and his company Diamond State Digital will be bringing Live Streaming for our fans and my wife and I will again be overseeing the operations. We could not think of better way to honor William J. and Juanita Cathell, whose vision built this facility 61 years ago.

On opening night, the United Racing Club, winged 360 Sprint Cars will make their first appearance for 2024. Headlining with them, returning in 2024, the Millman Big Block Modifieds with 25 lap action packed feature event. Joining BBM will be the 602 Sportsman Modifieds and Elliott Farms Crate Late Models dueling for 20 laps. Delmarva Super Trucks and Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars Modified and Sportsman divisions will also be in the lineup for the opening night schedule. New for this year, Street Stocks division will be competing 4 times on the historic half-mile this year, plus will compete at the Delaware State Dirt Track Championships in October.

The last week of April will give Motorsport fans multiple opportunities. Not only is it opening night for DIS, Dover Motor Speedway will host NASCARS best with three action packed days.

Friday, April 26: General Tire 125 ARCA Menards Series East race.
Saturday, April 27: A-GAME 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series race (1:30 p.m., FS1, PRN, SiriusXM)
Sunday, April 28: Würth 400 NASCAR Cup Series race (2 p.m., FS1, PRN, SiriusXM)

On Friday night, April 26, the Lucas Oil Late Model Series will invade Georgetown Speedway for the Melvin Joesph Memorial 49 lap feature event.

With all of these opportunities in our area, we also understand the cost to our fans to witness it all. On opening night, if fans bring a ticket from one of these events, they will receive $5 off Spectator admission as a small token of our appreciation for their love of Delaware Motorsports.
