Ashton Winger

Pair of Top-5 finishes in final Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park

With the first night of action postponed due to rain showers, Ashton Winger unloaded at East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, FL) on Tuesday afternoon to compete with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

With 75 Late Models in attendance for the final East Bay Winternationals, Winger was victorious in his heat race after qualifying eighth-fastest and charging from the third-starting position. In the first A-Main of the week, Ashton ran inside the Top-5 and was scored fourth at the checkered flag.

Missing the setup in Wednesday's qualifying session, Winger was relegated to a B-Main where he would finish one spot out of a transfer in third.

Bad luck continued to plague Winger on Thursday as he DNF'd in his heat race and was unable to start his B-Main.

With Monday's make-up event spanning multiple days, Winger charged forward in both his heat race and B-Main to make the postponed feature event. In another quick 30-lap race, Ashton marched through the field from 24th and wound up just outside the Top-10 in 11th.

On Friday afternoon, Winger found himself in the first B-Main of the night but took advantage and dominated to earn a spot in the $12,000-to-win main event. Rolling from the 19th-position, Ashton picked off competitors one-by-one to secure his second Top-5 of the week in fifth.

Transferring to Saturday's finale in the fifth heat, Winger started from the eight-row and rolled to an 11th-place finish in the main event.
