Sanders grabs top-10 result in USMTS Texas Spring Nationals
“The Rocket” Rodney Sanders fittingly took to Rocket Raceway Park in Petty, Texas, on Friday and Saturday for two days of competition with the Summit United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS).
Friday night’s Modified entry list featured 65 drivers seeking a $5,000 win during the first night of the 14th annual USMTS Texas Spring Nationals. Sanders began the evening with a fourth-place finish in his heat race on the 3/8-mile oval. He then transferred into the main event by grabbing third in his B-Main. Sanders started 19th and finished 25th in the 40-lap feature after being caught up in an accident.
On Saturday, 67 USMTS drivers descended on Rocket Raceway Park with another $5,000 payday on the line. Sanders claimed the runner-up spot in his heat, positioning him seventh on the grid for the 50-lap finale. He ultimately came home ninth.
Through four events in 2024, the defending USMTS champion is 11th in the point standings.
