Austin Holcombe picks up Mid-East Modified Tour victory during North Carolina Speedweeks

Losing Wednesday's opener to inclement weather, Austin Holcombe strapped back into his Prime Electrical Solutions No. 8 Crate Modified on Thursday afternoon for the second night of North Carolina Speedweeks at Fayetteville (N.C.) Motor Speedway.

Stopping the clock sixth-fastest among 17 Modifieds in qualifying, Holcombe started second and finished second in his heat race. Rolling off sixth in the 20-lap feature, Austin was an early retiree on lap 5.

Friday's event was also cancelled after another round of heavy rain showers.

Capping off the weekend on Saturday, Austin earned a front-row starting spot in the finale after laying down the second-fastest lap in qualifying. With a $1,200 payday on the line, Holcombe took the lead on the opening lap and never looked back. Holcombe topped Donovan Jackson and Dustin Watkins who joined him on the podium.
